Template:Stub A large part of space technology was developed in the 1960’s as a result of the cold war. This includes the space suit, rockets, and thermal nuclear drives. There was also some work done in pulse detonation drives (project Orion). Since the 1960’s there have been improvements in rocket efficiency and safety, control systems and vast improvements in electronics. The improvements in electronics and control system have made it possible to increase the length and payload Soyuz II (not yet in use) over Soyuz I.
