Thermite Thermal Propulsion (TTP) is a form of propulsion similar to nuclear thermal. However, instead of using a nuclear generator to supply heat, the thermite reaction is used. The Thermite reaction is as follows:
3Fe3O2+2Al=>3Fe+2Al2O3
The thermite reaction needs temperatures of 600 deg. C to start, and puts out over 2500 deg C.
This is beneficial on mars because it is covered in rust, and there is a large amount of aluminum as well.
