SpaceShip One, built by Scaled Composites and piloted by Mike Melvill, was the first privately built craft to successfully conduct a suborbital flight twice in a two week period. This feat won the Ansari X Prize for Scaled Composites.

Further development of the launch system is planned using a larger SpaceShip Two design for suborbital tourist flights.
