Description

The value for the "Universal Unit of Length" will conform to the requirements that it will be universal, permanent and invariant in time. Within the universe hydrogen is its most abundant element. The electromagnetic emission from the precession of neutral hydrogen permeates the universe and its wavelength is absolutely constant everywhere. This wavelength will be designated using the Greek letter Lambda with a suffix, λH.

The wavelength of the hydrogen emission has a physical length even though it is not visible to the human eye. The precision of the value is absolute when it is 1 wavelength, however, when transferred to a metrology system that is dictated upon a physical length its precision is limited by the ability to measure that length.

When a physical length, other than the value of "one", is introduced into scientific calculations the results of the calculations will be limited in precision by the conversion. The physical value of the λH value in centimeters is limited by the precision of the defined SI value for the meter, which is 10 significant figures.
